This Old Post Office Chicago wedding was featured in Modern Luxury Weddings Winter/Spring Issue. Very grateful to Christine Janda and the team at Christine Janda Design and Events for making this all possible.
Sara and Andres’ wedding was one of my season highlights from 2023. Their wedding was my first at the historic Old Post Office Chicago, and I hope it was not my last. The venue is truly out of this world beautiful. The design team took it to a whole new level by elevating the cocktail hour and reception spaces. Whew. There is so much to share. As the tiktokers say, let’s get into it.
Getting Ready
The pair chose to get ready at The Intercontinental Chicago. The Intercon is such an iconic getting ready spot and perfectly fit the couple’s vibe. It also served as the backdrop for first look photos, which were some of my favorite shots from the day. It was a rainy summer day, so we snapped some indoor portraits there before going to the Civic Opera Building for wedding party photos en route to Old Post Office Chicago.
The texture that pearls bring into a veil is so good. Loved getting to play with it for photos.
Moments after their first look. Some of my favorites from the day.
Dealing with rain on your wedding day.
If there is one thing I constantly remind clients, it’s to not stress over things you can’t control. I remind myself of that daily too, as I am planning my own wedding. One thing you cannot control? The weather. So, if it rains on your wedding day, your options are to get an umbrella and roll with it, or use an indoor/covered space. Since Civic Opera House was en route to Old Post Office, it made perfect sense to stop there for wedding party photos once we left Intercon.
Old Post Office Chicago Wedding
If you’ve never been to the Old Post Office, click here to learn more about it. It is one of the most unique wedding venues in Chicago, and I love the history behind the building and the renovations it went after being vacant for over 20 years.
Unique Cocktail Hour Inspo on the Second Floor of Old Post Office
The upstairs level of the Old Post Office was completely transformed into a stunning cocktail hour area complimented by stunning white and green florals with hints of blush.
The Reception Reveal
Minimalist but gorgeous design done by the team at Christine Janda Design and Events. Some of the best in Chicago.
