Now that busy season has ended, its booking season for 2023 weddings, and I am so excited to be meeting and welcoming new clients into the AGP family. Sara and Andres booked me for their 2023 wedding at Chicago’s Old Post Office a few weeks ago and immediately jumped on a last minute opening I had for an engagement session last week. Fortunate for us, we got one of the last warm days left for the year, and it made for a fun afternoon of roaming around their favorite spots in their neighborhood, Wicker Park.

If you’ve peeped my 101 places to shoot your engagement photos blog, I have a note on there about the rooftop at the Robey hotel being an option, but a permit more often than not being required. Sara and Andres opted to wing it and see if we could get up on the rooftop without a reservation but unfortunately it was one of those days where it didn’t work out (easiest way to get up there is during the summer when they have the rooftop bar open, but it was closed for the season when we went.) Instead, I suggested the pair grab a few photos in one of the hotel’s lobby areas and take a spin on a luggage cart, which turned out to be some of my favorite photos from the session.

After the Robey, we took a nice walk down Division to some of their favorite bars for some drinks and darts, and finished at their favorite take out Chinese spot for some noodles and dumplings which looked fire. Sara and Andres truly made their engagement session a day-date, and it makes your session so fun and laid back, which is *key* to getting those beautiful candid moments you want photographed. If you’re planning your own engagement session right now, check out that blog post on locations, but also try to make your session about you and your partner. Pick a location (or two) that is meaningful, do an activity, or go get ice cream. It’s a fun way to break the ice if you’re nervous about being in front of the camera, and it makes for a good time.

I am still actively booking for 2023! As of today, I am close to being 50% full and looking to only take 10-12 more couples. If you’re interested in working with me, click here.
