When it comes to Chicago venues, nothing says West Loop quite like a Morgan MFG wedding. It is an industrial blank canvas with so much potential to make your own, and I thoroughly enjoy every wedding and event I shoot here. I remember the first time I worked in this space in 2015 and was completely enamored with the bathrooms, IYKYK. I was so excited when Lucy and Zach’s planner, Christine Janda Events approached me about photographing their wedding.
Morgan Manufacturing
Morgan Manufacturing boasts 30,000 square feet of event space. It is perfect for catering to large weddings, and has insane potential to be flipped into your dream wedding space. If you are looking for a large venue in Chicago to make your own, Morgan MFG is one of the best. One of my favorite things about the venue is the beautiful window light it gets in the afternoon. We had the most gorgeous light during Lucy and Zach’s ceremony, as well as when photographing the reception details.
Documentary Wedding Photos
Lucy and Zach were very clear that they wanted minimal portraits on their wedding day. They were focused on spending time with their people, and did not want portraits to take away from that. It was refreshing to work with them. As a documentarian, it allowed me to truly be a fly on the wall throughout their day.
Couples often approach me wanting a focus on candid photos. My best advice for achieving that? Buffer time. Lots of it. It gives us me the time to capture those in between moments, without your day being a photoshoot. Your wedding is about you, not the photos. Don’t forget that!
2025 Wedding Trends
As we kick off the New Year, your wedding algorithms will be inundated with A LOT of posts talking about what is “in” and “out” for this upcoming wedding season. This is your reminder to do what makes you happy. I repeat, your wedding is about YOU. Not about trends. Lucy and Zach are a perfect example of this. They are the first couple I’ve had to perform in their own band during cocktail hour.

Lucy’s Cinq a Sept dress: absolutely iconic. Also, she changed into Vivienne Westwood and I screamed at the ensemble. She is a fashion forward queen.
