A Langham Chicago Wedding has been on my to-do list for a while now. I photograph many getting ready photos here, three this season, but was thrilled to finally shoot a full wedding day here. This wedding was definitely a highlight of my 2024 season (outside of my own :’)) – where do I begin? With an all start vendor line up and The Langham Chicago as the backdrop, we couldn’t have asked for a better day.
How to Achieve Beautiful Wedding Photos
Madeline and Blake are my kind of people. I could tell that from the moment we met for engagement photos. They are family focused, kind, and all about being present and in the moment. To achieve beautiful wedding photos, a big element of what I do is reminding my couples that it is not about the photos. Your wedding is a celebration of your love not a photo shoot. I recommend having more buffer time and less locations (see here for more inspo.) Madeline and Blake did all of their photos in and around The Langham. It made all of the difference in their day. This gave them more time to be with their people, thus allowing me to work my magic.
The Details
My day started in the suite at the Langham, with the girls drinking mimosas in cute matching floral PJs. Madeline’s dad taped a sign to the bedroom door so everyone knew not to enter where *the dress* was, it was the sweetest thing. Speaking of the dress, it was one of my absolute favorites from this season. The details on it are so incredibly dreamy, I could tell immediately it was Ines Di Santo.
Following Madeline getting dressed, we photographed the first look, private vows, portraits and wedding party photos all outside of the hotel. (Pro-tip, the North side of the hotel is a perfect spot for photos as it has a beautiful blank stone wall, a stair case, and a pedway with trees and stone benches.) The weather? Absolutely perfect. Chicago weather in October is very inconsistent for weddings, IYKYK. 75 degrees or 50 and rainy, there is no in between. We were incredibly grateful for the beautiful day.
Following outdoor photos, family photos in the ceremony space, which was aboslutely stunnign. Draping is going to be a huge trend in 2025, and I am here for it. Additionally, the florals. Cannot rave enough about the work from A Stem Above. The most beautiful ranunculus I have ever seen. Antique green and mauve hydrangeas imported from Europe. No detail left unturned.
I could yap about this wedding forever. However, I will keep the rest brief. The ceremony was beautiful, cocktail hour full of love, laughter, and hugs, and the reception was a blast. Truly a joy to document for these families.
