Y’all already know I love a good Chicago city hall elopement, and this was no different except I was actually allowed inside City Hall this time around.
Ana and Chris are getting married in San Miguel de Allende later this year, but when you get married abroad, it is a little easier to get legally married in your place of residence beforehand (less paperwork and translation needed) so they decided to elope by themselves in Chicago on a chilly Friday morning in February.
Chicago winters are not for the faint of heart, and after 10 years of shooting portraits in them, I can say that I am an expert of shooting in cold temps. Most of my clients, however, are not, so I will always offer indoor options. When Ana asked for location suggestions I immediately suggested Chicago Cultural Center because of it’s proximity, as well as a few other options from my list, and it was love at first sight for Ana.
Following their nuptials, we snapped a few frames inside of the gorgeous halls of City Hall, but with the stair cases being roped off, we made our way over to the Cultural Center. Loved getting to slip in there on a weekday because there wasn’t much foot traffic and we were able to get some stunning frames without me having to photoshop people out of the background 🤪 Scroll to see some of my favorites from their session!
If you’re looking to elope at city hall, plan ahead! As of May 3rd, 2023, no appointments are required.
